In other words, organic foods means foods those are in accordance with specific production standards. They do not have customary pesticides sprayed on them, they have not been cultivated with manmade fertilizer or dirt trash, and they do not have food additives as well.

Cook at home and lose weight

13 Sep

If you’re looking for a safe and easy way to loose weight, the answer might already be in your kitchen.Cook your own food and carry it to work! As you know, butter, salt and sauce make food more delicious. Nobody wants to lose customer while cooking healthy food. Frankly speaking, you get more calories when you eat the same foods at restaurant. Cooking your meals at home can really help you control what goes into the food you eat and keep your weight under control, and your cholesterol levels healthy. Plus, with rising prices and a recession in progress, eating at home save you money to boot!

Always keep in mind

1. You control the portion size at home rather than having a chef tell you how much food you need (you don’t have to be tempted with more on the plate staring at you saying “eat me!”)
2.
You control the quality of ingredients at home.
3.
You wash your hands and counters before cooking – lesser chance of you getting food poisoning. ( I know it’s gross)
4.
You can season and cook food exactly the way you like rather than how the restaurant chef dictates
5.
You can establish (or carry on) a family tradition of home-cooked food. Create a special Sunday brunch, Monday morning breakfast, Friday night dinner, or holiday meal that your family and friends look forward to sharing with you.

Don’t Leave The Table So Full

06 Sep

It’s a proven fact that if you wolf your food down your body won’t have a chance to feel that it’s full (and in the meantime you may have reached for an unnecessary second portion). It takes approximately 20min. to feel your real “fullness”. This is because the enzymes that break down protein and fat (which make you feel full) are enzymes only released in the stomach once acids begin to break down. Think about it – you went to the restaurant, ordered an appetizer, had a salad, sampled the warm crusty bread, and found that by the time entire was served you could barely finish it because you were already full…nice, eh?

In other words, eat slowly (this includes taking the time to thoroughly chew each bite before swallowing it) and if you think you’re still hungry, wait about 20 minutes before deciding if you really want more.

Losing One Pound a Week is Easier than You Think

26 Aug

Monica Cardone's Diet Diary - Calorie counting tipsYou need to lose at least one pound a week. Two pounds is the MOST fat you can lose in one week – but shoot for one and you’ll be there before you know it! Now, here’s the trick: to lose one pound in seven days you need to reduce your net calories by 500 every day. This means you need to burn off more than you are conusming. Be prepared to push yourself harder than ever to get yourself going. But every day that passes, the easier this task will be. Here’s some tips on how you can start doing this:
· Replace your morning bagel and cream cheese with an English muffin and cottage cheese
· Drink diet cola instead of regular cola…and better yet, tried unsweetened Iced Tea or water with a little lemon or cranberry juice
· Replace one slice of cheddar cheese for low fat cheese made from skim milk
· Swap 1 glass of 2% milk for 1% milk (or Skim!)
· Chose air-popped popcorn insead of more buttery popcorn
· Replace a white-bread bagel with a lighter and fluffier English muffin (saves 60 calories)
· Instead of ordering a Café Mocha prepared with whole milk at Starbucks, opt for an equally satisfying Café Latte prepared with non-fat milk
· When you want a fresh snack, choose a high-fiber apple over a banana
· Choose a light salad-dressing for your salad. Three tablespoons of non-fat Italian dressing or vinegar makes a big difference over Caesar salad dressing…up to 300 calories!
· When making a 2-egg omelet, replace one of the eggs with an egg-white
· This one’s probably the one that will hurt the most, but it also packs the most punch. The next time you’re eating at a fast-food restaurant, say ‘no’ to the French fries and have a side order of salad instead

If you lose more than one pound a week, then you’re doing better than average. Expecting to lose five pounds a week just isn’t realistic. Although it is possible if you are ridding your body of toxins and excess water; we all have learned…these “pounds” never last -LOL

Weight Loss Tip #18: Use The Power of Shopping

10 Aug

Monica Cardone ShoppingI keep my “thin” jeans for motivation. If you’ve already gotten rid of all of them buy new smaller clothes, intentionally, to motivate yourself. I had several pairs of jeans/pants that I had purchased knowing they were too small, thinking they would motivate me to lose this weight. It really worked. I purchased them because they were on clearance, and I thought I didn’t want to have to pay full price once I reach my goal weight.

Stay Away from Nightly Snacks or Late Dinners

26 Jul

Anything you consume after 6pm – just figure this will converted into fat. Why? Because our metabolism slows down in the evening. And this is not just a unique situation for humans either. Did you know that all plants and animals adjust their natural life according to “sunset” and “sunrise”? Studies have proven that our bodies minimize energy consumption and start energy storage as soon as the sun begins to set. So to make long story short, every bite you eat late of extra calories, will likely result in unwanted pounds. No one wants to go to bed hungry, but the feeling of over fullness can actually make you more uncomfortable and prevent you from falling back to sleep!

The ugly truth: people in other countries consume less fast foods and eat more fresh and natural foods, but they don’t seem to be eating less fatty foods or lower calorie foods. They might also be getting more exercise; but then again, despite getting plenty of exercise, many Americans are not able to lose weight. So we can’t just blame it all on “You’re eating too much,” or “You’re not exercising,” or “You’re getting old.”

The Ugly Truth is…

21 Jul

monica cardone's diet diaryPeople in other countries consume less fast foods and eat more fresh and natural foods, but they don’t seem to be eating less fatty foods or lower calorie foods. They might also be getting more exercise; but then again, despite getting plenty of exercise, many Americans are not able to lose weight. So we can’t just blame it all on “You’re eating too much,” or “You’re not exercising,” or “You’re getting old.” What is the big difference or the real common denominator? There is one significant factor I’d like to discuss. In America we fatten cattle, chickens and other animals via hormones. We give them estrogen and growth hormone to make them fatter. Even farm-raised fish are fed hormones. Well, if you consume turkey meat from turkeys that have been given hormones from birth, is it possible that some of the residue from the hormones could leach out in your body? If hormones can cause turkeys to look butterball size, is it possible that your body could also become butterball size?

Talk to people who are doing it, or who have done it and been successful

20 Jul

monica cardone blog image - doctorPeople always tend to believe overweight people cook better than thin people (Why?…We identify that thin people must not eat – or don’t care as much about great tasting food). I’m going to make the same generalization here…don’t take your overweight doctor’s advice on how to lose weight and keep it off

“Listen to me but not follow” type of advice, is a dime a dozen. Train with a person who is in great shape. And listen to those who practice what they preach.
