Day 38: Ketosis

I bought some ketone test strips at the local pharmacy to see if I was at least engaging “Ketosis” (fat burning).  You hold the strips in your urine stream and wait for them to turn dark purple and then be happy that you are showing signs of ketosis.

My strip is light purple, so I guess my fat burning isn’t too bad (the darker the better though).

I realized (painfully) that I have had no fiber in my diet and so I began taking a supplement…  again.  It is called Liquiboost.  It is a concentrated food-based supplement that is supposed to detox your body and then replenish deficient nutrients your body needs.  From what I can research, this is something I really need right now.   I am pretty much on no diet right now and frankly scared to eat anything.  I know it can’t be healthy for me to eat all of that salt and fat, but I just can’t seem to control my cravings for carbs at this point – especially once I recognize that means virtually no vegetables or fruit!

I hope this supplement helps.  My husband took it a while back and got great results – but he has a totally different body than I have (obviously) – he does nothing and looks phenomenal.  I seriously have to work at it…Hard!

Day 33: Second day on “Atkins”

I decided to skip the eggs and go right to having a much more filling chicken breast.  I bought the large bag of frozen skinless, boneless variety and just put it into the microwave with some salt (while frozen) on a plate for about 6 minutes.  You wouldn’t believe how moist and perfect this tastes!  I am considering this is the easiest diet I have ever been on.

Today I ate 8 chicken breasts – only 1300 calories!!!  I also had a large salad of romaine (that was the only ingredient in my “salad” – sad).  I feel great and slept great last night.

My workout went well this morning too and I did 15 push-ups all the way to the floor…yippee!

Day 13: No Spice = Actual Food

It’s my 13nd day on this diet program.  I worked out and I feel great!  I am not craving sugar or caffeine or anything actually and I am finding the best seasoning in the world is simply salt and pepper!

I made some amazing Tilapia for dinner with seared spinach and summer squash.  I am used to cooking fairly elaborate meals because I really do enjoy cooking…I like to use a lot of different spices…but interestingly the more simple my diet has become, the more I have been interested in just tasting the actual food (not the spices or flavoring).  Humm…
